Good preparation saves time and money at every border. Here are the steps our customs team recommends before any international shipment.

1. Get the paperwork right

Every shipment needs a commercial invoice, packing list and the correct HS tariff codes. Missing or inaccurate documents are the number one cause of customs delays.

2. Pack for the journey

Use sturdy pallets, stretch-wrap and corner protection. Goods travelling by sea can face condensation, so add desiccant bags for moisture-sensitive items.

3. Insure your cargo

Carrier liability is limited by international conventions and rarely covers the full value of your goods. All-risk cargo insurance costs a fraction of a percent of the cargo value.
